French Mediterranean Coast

The structure of the St Tropez Citadel is similar to the Chateau d'If in Marseille with a main building, dry moat around it, a courtyard and cistern. Its main purpose was to deter the Spanish from invading. Here you see the ramparts (left) and the courtyard below them (right). The St Tropez Citadel is now classified as a historical monument.
